| Newton MA News and Politics BlogThe Newton Nomadic theater will kick off its new season with a free! outdoor Nomad Story Slam at 7 PM on Saturday (Sept 8) at the Hyde Bandstand, 90 Lincoln St in Newton Highlands.  The theme of the night is “it was my fault”.

If you never been to one, you should.   These events were inspired by the Moth Radio Hour.  They are evenings of story telling where anyone can throw their name in the hat to tell their own 5 minute, true, “it was my fault” story.

Come to listen to the stories or if you’re a bit more adventurous come and tell your own story.

This is the final evening of the Hyde Playground’s fabulous summer long Summer in the Highlands series of free concerts, films, and theater that has been running every weekend since June.

Saturday’s Nomad Story Slam will feature special guest host Mike Reilly, one of the Nomad Story Slam’s most popular and funny story tellers.

* The Weir by Conor McPherson is a gripping series of ghost stories featuring a fabulous cast – Billy Meleady, Noni Lewis, Matt Winberg, Chris Burke and Derry Woodhouse. Will run for five weeks starting Oct 10 at various locations around Newton.

* In the works – We’re planning on a special screening of the brand new Sweeney Killing Sweeney film at the West Newton Cinema. The film was written by Newton screenwriter Bill Braudis and features a whos-who of Boston comedians – Steve Sweeney, Lenny Clarke, Nick Di Paolo, Steven Wright, Jonathan Katz, and Frank Santorelli.
