Incumbent Jay Ciccone won re-election to the Ward 1 at-large seat with 8792 votes, unofficially. Allison Leary won her bid to move from her ward seat to an at-large seat with 8006 votes. Newcomer Nicole Castillo was third (7182) and Janet Sterman fourth (3467).

Congratulations to the winners though it is disappointing that Nicole did not win this time. She is an amazing person and ran a great campaign. I hope she will stay involved in Newton politics.
Congratulations to my compadre, Jay Ciccone who pulled off the most votes! You rock. Also congratulations to Alison Leary, for your win. Our politics are at complete different poles, but she is someone I am proud and happy to call friend. Kudos to Nicole Castillo. She took the risk to run as a total unknown, with no history in Newton, and pulled off a real professional campaign.
