NE Mobile Book Fair to stay in Newton

The New England Mobile Book Fair is staying in Newton for at least another two years.

    I read the three articles, but [unless I missed it] none of them mentioned what will happen to the building NE Mobile Book Fair occupied for all those years.

    A welcome reprieve. The Book Fair has been a local landmark for as long as I can remember, and losing it would have been a shame. And by the way, not that this is the same class of enterprise at all, but after much dithering, I’m pleased to announce the opening of a Little Free Library. The address is 45 Pleasant Street, Newton Centre, across from the municipal parking lot. We’re having a Grand Opening celebration this Sunday, the 21st, from 4 to 5 PM, with refreshments–and books–so please do stop by.

    Call me skeptical but really sounds like the developer looking to throw a bone to generate some emotional good will with no skin off their back for 2 years while they wait for other leases to expire and navigate the zoning process. Last time I was in the store a couple months ago on a Sunday afternoon it was empty. Unfortunately as we all know, the independent book store has very little place in the digital age and Needham Street isn’t one of them.
