The Newton North and Newton South boys basketballs are on a “collision course” early in this year’s state tournament, Wicked Local Newton reports. The boys teams will meet Wednesday night at 6:30 at North when the sixth-seeded Tigers (16-6) host the 11th-seeded Lions (12-8)
The North/South girls teams also have a potential match-up with the sixth-seeded Lions (16-4) if they beat BrooklineTuesday night to set up a meeting against the third-seeded Tigers (17-3) Thursday night at 6:30 at North,
Update: South beat Brookline Tuesday evening, setting up a North/South tilt for the girls on Thursday as well.
As parent of a 2016 North (and Boys’ Basketball) alum, I will be attending to cheer on the students from both teams (including a few South kids that I know). Should be a fun couple of nights. Hoping for North teams to advance at least a few rounds so my son can catch a game when he is home for Spring Break.

South upset North in the Boys game tonight, 78-72. Intense game. North boys only losing three seniors and ought to be pretty strong next year.
