This is a very touching story, and I don’t mean to diminish Harvard’s kind gesture toward this deserving young man and his family. But my comment is going to focus on the real football story taking place in Newton’s schools. Most unfortunately, we have a group of pathetic losers [aka the School Committee] who run our public schools. They still feel that tackle football is an appropriate school sport for teenage students, despite well established medical evidence to the contrary. Thanks to our SC some of these kids will leave that middle and high school football experience with brain damage and orthopedic issues that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. Is it any wonder a SC that would turn a blind eye to these dangers, would also be oblivious to issues like sleep deprivation and student stress?
Hmmm. Is this story from The Onion?
I have no idea what this means. Is he being “accepted” as sort of a team mascot?
@Jerry: Yes. From the Patch article:
From the article: “Daniel signed with the Crimson earlier this season through Team IMPACT, an organization that connects kids fighting cancer to local college athletic programs.”
