This is a serious health issue that has measurable and unmeasurable negative consequences for thousands of kids everyday. What’s required is less talk and more action.
So @Mike will you attend and say that?
This parody (I think) story in Denebola suggests that a later start time would be good for teachers as well.
Don’t take it for granted that a change will happen. The path of least resistance is to do nothing or wait for several more years in the hopes Beacon Hill moves first. Parents need to tell the NPS that this is important. Please go to the meeting and advocate for swift change. Our kids’ health is worth it.
I am collecting email addresses for concerned parents, [email protected]. A website should be up soon.
I lost faith in the School Committee years ago. I see them as part of the problem. In my opinion, the issue of early morning start times requires mayoral leadership to resolve. Mayor Warren has the authority to change high school start times autonomously. And that’s exactly what he should do. It’s the only way this change gets made for next year, and likely for the foreseeable future.
