According to this media advisory from Newton’s Director of Community Engagement, Mayor Setti Warren will speak on Monday in Washington, DC at the Brooking Institution’s International Symposium on Housing Inclusion and Social Equity. He’ll be part of an 11AM panel discussion on “Housing and Community: Role of Government in the U.S.” Newton residents (or anyone else) can register in advance to view the symposium online.
UPDATE: You can view Mayor Warren’s 10-minute talk here, along with his answer to a question here. And follow — or join in — the Twitter conversation at #INCLUSIVECITIES.
Anyone….anyone…. Bueller ?
Maybe Tom Sheff?
Doug,
Atleast the Mayor is getting closer to Newton. After going out to the Middle east and blowing his time out there.
Greg,
After all the trips to the middle east which you keep defending him that he’s bringing back ideas and business’s to Newton, I’d like to see exactly what he has brought back to Newton with all of these trips. Just curious.
@Tom: I’m not sure it’s “all these trips.” I think there’s been two, maybe I’ve missed one. But I will say that attracting businesses does take time. It’s not as if you visit on a Tuesday and by Thursday the company has moved in. It requires patience and persistence. That said, there are quite a few Israeli rooted businesses here and having your chief executive promoting your community to others can only be helpful.
Greg,
I’m sorry, I was adding his trips to New york, washington, las vegas, phoenix, wyoming, etc with the ones from the middle east. My bad.
I think the point Tom is making is that the Mayor spends a considerable amount of time out of state traveling and attending national conferences. His focus should be on Newton and not trying to raise his exposure for personal gain.
