Newton Center parking meeting Wednesday

A consulting firm? Seriously? 25 elected officials and the Planning Department can’t figure this one out on their own??
Parking in the Centre has been a mismanaged resource, and it’s cost the city plenty. The restaurant business is booming at night, just after the city stops charging for metered parking. Extend the hours for metered parking until 10pm. The Mayor is in Jerusalem, supposedly drumming up business. Maybe he ought to try taking care of business at home first.
Mike,
I like your idea. In Evanston, IL the downtown meters go til 9 PM!!!!
Sure, turn on the meters and watch prospective diners go to other towns (Needham Center and Coolidge Corner are easy access) and malls. Brilliant idea.
Coolidge Corner is easy access?
FWIW, I won’t argue against leaving meters on late, especially as nighttime is high-demand time. Why not? I certainly wouldn’t drive off in a huff to Coolidge Corner or Needham Center to save $2 in parking.
I’m sure that’s not all that is on the table for the evening, so interested to hear what is discussed (I will not be able to go)
