Today’s Boston Herald has a terrific story and video about Newton North sophomore Aaron Miller who can drive a golf ball 200 yards off the tee — using only his left hand. Take the time to check it out.
North North golfer Aaron Miller inspires as he overcomes handicap

Aaron is an inspiration. Not just for his fortitude and dedication but that he chooses a sport that is maddening in it’s demand for perfection and precision. What a terrific spirit. I’ll need a lot of strokes to play him.
@Terry. I, too, was moved by Aaron’s dedication and spunk and his ability to do all this with one functioning arm. It actually reminded me of a one armed violinist who performed the extremely demanding Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto at a Newton Philharmonic concert a few years back.
But I think that sailing gives any other sport a good run for the money. It finally came to pass this year that I have stopped trying to “skipper” either a race or a sail in rough water because I can no longer sort through the dozen or so sneaky variables that are required just to survive on the water. A failure to anticipate even one of these can result in injury, a heavily damaged boat, or at best a dented ego.
A real sailing success story involves from Peter Harrington, one of our former State Reps and current candidate for Charter Commission. For several years he’s been involved with teaching blind people to sail at Courageous Sailing in Charlestown where I sail. I’ve seen these folks in action on the water and they are spectacularly great sailors.
Ditto to what Terry and Bob said.
Congrats, Aaron, you rock!! (But then, what’s new?) Your effort and determination have always been an inspiration, glad you are getting such nice press coverage.
Aaron, I should add…effort and determination are important, but having an awesome mother never hurts. You are blessed in that regard.
