Looking for good free stuff, or looking to free yourself from some stuff? The next semi-annual Swap Day will, for a change, be on a Sunday instead of a Saturday, May 17 at the Rumford Ave Recycling Depot. From 8-11am it’s for Newton residents only (ID required) to drop off and take items. From 11am-2pm anyone may take items.
More details are here, but basically they’ll take anything that’s usable, non-toxic, non-hazardous and clean, except for computer monitors, TVs, or upholstered furniture. (Non-upholstered furniture is okay.)
I’ve always wanted to go to one of these, but they always seemed to be on a Saturday, when I’m working, so I’m looking forward to helping at this one and seeing the spectacle of lots of stuff recycled. You’ve got 10 days to figure out what you’ve got that you don’t need but someone else could use.
I hope they continue to alternate Saturdays and Sundays. There’s a sizable portion of Newtonites who are Shabbat observant and can’t participate on Saturdays, plus lots of families of kids who are playing sports then.
