Those traffic-generating ranking lists keep coming folks! On this one Newton is one of the 10 Happiest Suburbs In America!
The bad news? We’re tied for 5th with some place called Apex, N.C., whose largest hotel seems to be a Best Western and where the top-rated restaurant according to TripAdvisor is La Rancherita, a chain which boasts that your first basket of chips and salsa is free!
So, no, I’m not happy.
I used to live in Chapel Hill, not far from Apex. Believe me, we’re happier.
Trivia point – Town next door to Apex is Cary, referred to locally as the “Containment Area for Relocated Yankees.”
Free chips & salsa? I’m hitting the road.
Looks like we’ve made Jerry happy.
Notice Newton is recognized a happy suburb, not a city looking to become more urban.
@Patrick: Maybe we’re happy that we’re becoming more urban.
@Jerry – If you do hit the road, I can suggest a place for some excellent shrimp + cheese grits. (Not kidding, they’re good. However, not great for the cholesterol)
@Greg, maybe that is possible for some Newton residents. However based on the sizes of the other “happy” suburbs, I doubt we are all in a race to become urbanized. And if we become more urbanized, we may not qualify to stay on this list of happy suburbs. That would be sad.
“Happy”, “smiling”, “content”.. You’d never know from reading some of the comments on Village 14.
