| Newton MA News and Politics BlogNewton’s farmers’ market at Cold Springs Park will move into the Hyde Center in Newton Highlands starting Tuesday Nov. 13 and running until June.

“The farmers at Cold Springs Park are very excited about creating a winter market which has been successful in other cities,” said Newton Alderman John Rice, who is also the Hyde’s executive director. “Judy Dore from Newton Parks and Rec who has run the Farmers Market for over twenty five years will be working with me on the logistics.

Rice said many farmers have greenhouses and root cellars to create items to sell and there will be tables selling beef, eggs, bake goods, chowder, cheese, produce. “It is estimated we can get 25 booths into half the Hyde and the goal is to generate foot traffic into the Highlands as one of the main reasons we are creating this winter farmers market.”
