Newton Alderman Greer Tan Swiston will be kicking off her campaign for State Representative this Saturday, March 31.
Swiston, a Republican is challenging incumbent Democrat Kay Khan for the second time this fall, although I suspect this contest will be tighter given that Swiston is much better known this time,
The kick-off run starts at 9:00 am at Dunkin’ Donuts in Auburndale (2096 Commonwealth Avenue) and ends at about 11:30 am at Uno’s Pizzeria in Newton Corner (287 Washington Street). Here’s a map of the run.
Thanks for the intro. I truly look forward to a great election year.
Also, the route is measured for 6 mi with each mile fairly well identified. It makes this route an easy one to use … any portion of it … for those “Running against the Wind” … a virtual 5K Charity run for the Dick Beardsley Foundation.
Just thought I’d mention it since runners will be running their 5K all over the world.
Greer is a wonderful person and has served Newton well on the BOA. Since she hasn’t been challenged in a recent election, people may have forgotten what a dynamo she is as a campaigner. I know Setti got a lot of attention with his door to door campaign for mayor. But I’ve seen Greer run for office a couple of times now, and in my opinion she’s hands down the best campaigner in Newton. I predict this will be a very close election.
I really know very little about Greer Tan Swiston politically, but I hats off to her for the creative thinking here with the run. Regardless of how she may do in her election run, the 6-mile run is a great example to the community about exercise, healthy living. Have fun!
My hypothetical run for Emperor of Newton starts with my 36-hole tour through Newton’s finest greens. Running stinks. It’s why God made cars.
