@Harry Sanders – she probably couldn’t afford the pay cut.
Curious detail … what’s that $1? The mayor’s salary was listed as $125,001. Was that a typo or is there a story there?

Perhaps CC narrative would promote City Manager; is she not the de facto segregate Mayor who by qualification happens to be a woman?

Seeing as we still can’t fill positions and keep loosing folks to the private sector (at least in DPW) maybe some more balancing needs to happen. Also income over 100k is reasonable to actually live in Newton, especially if you own a home.
I don’t know that we’re losing people to the private sector. All the recent departures I can think of either did not have anything new lined up or went to a different public sector job.

In all seriousness his job is seriously underpaid. I am sure I’ll get hit for saying it, but his job should be one of the highest 2 or 3 people in the city. I have no problem with the school super being the highest, but the Mayor should be relatively close.
Maureen Lemieux for Mayor once she moves here..
