Local playwright Ronan Noone is on a roll. Back in January, the Huntington Theater produced Noone’s “The Second Girl” to much acclaim. It was the third Noone play that the Huntington has produced.
Today’s Boston Globe reported on Ronan Noone’s “Adultery” opening up tonight at the New Repertory Theater.
Given Noone’s rising star, you can imagine how excited the Newton Nomadic Theater is to be presenting the New England premiere of Ronan’s “Compass Rose” this coming September. He came to the Nomadic Theater’s production of “The Turn of the Screw” last month and loved what he saw. He said that our Nomadic Theater reminded him of the theater he saw growing up in his small town in Ireland – great itinerant theaters that would set up in a church hall one day, and the next day they’d be five miles down the road at the next village.
September’s production of Ronan’s “Compass Rose” is going to be something special. We’re hatching plans at the moment for a completely unique presentation of the play. It should be good.
In the meantime, the Newton Nomadic Theater is ramping up for it’s next production, “The Beauty Queen of Leenane” by Martin McDonagh which will run from May 15 – June 10 at various locations around Newton. Stay tuned, details to follow soon.
