Parking | Newton MA News and Politics BlogA member of Newton’s Traffic Council, say’s he’s never seen anything like it.  For as long as anyone can remember, the most minor change to any parking rules, regulations, or parking spots were guaranteed to raise howls of protest from everyone.  Suddenly, and inexplicably, in the last month the entire citizenry has lost their interest in parking.

“We hold Traffic Council meetings to discuss eliminating residential parking on entire streets and nobody turns up.  A public hearing was held last week to discuss raising the meter rates in the Newton Centre parking lot and there was nobody there.  Even the Austin Street project seems to be affected, nobody’s publicly mentioned ‘the parking issues’ in weeks”.

The Newton Tab’s been trying to investigate the change of heart of the citizenry and the folks they’ve interviewed just say things like “what’s the big deal?”  “it’s only a parking space”.
