The Newton Nomadic Theater tried something new tonight. We moved our current production of The Turn of The Screw to a private home.
Steve Siegel and Theresa St. John-Siegel opened up their Waban house to the troupe for two public performances. The venue was perfect and tonight’s show in this cozy and intimate setting was among the best of the run. With the audience so up close and personal, Marge Dunn and Billy Meleady got to ratchet up the energy and thrills in this chilling ghost story.
A few tickets are still available for tomorrow night at the Siegel-St. John’s house, so get them while you can at http://NewtonNomadicTheater.org
We’re looking forward to tomorrow night’s performance!
We were among four couples who ventured out to dinner together at the Biltmore on Saturday evening and then onto the night ice to see The Turn of the Screw at Newton School Committee Member Steve Siegel and wife Theresa St. John’s lovely home. This is my spouse’s and my third time seeing Billy Meleady perform onstage, the second in Newton Nomadic Theater productions. He is as remarkable for his deft direction as his onstage morphing among three of the play’s four characters. Marge Dunn, the only other visible (real?) character and the play’s lead, acts well beyond her years and carries the ghastly ghostly message with Meleady to its frightful conclusion. I guarantee that you won’t sleep well after seeing this play! The current production of this chilling ghost story is magnificent in its simple staging and profound in its eccentric psychic mystery. If you’ve seen it already, you know what I mean. If you haven’t, I strongly urge you to be among the few who are fortunate enough to secure tickets to the last two remaining performances next Saturday and Sunday nights. Your heart may well skip a beat. There is, indeed, theater in Newton. Hallelujah!
Sallee – Your review was spot on! It is an incredible show and so well suited for a small venue. Thanks to Jerry Reilly for bringing theatre to Newton and to the St. John/Siegel’s for hosting this showing of The Turn of the Screw.
I’m really looking forward to the next Nomad Story Slam.
@Sallee and Jane – We’re so glad you came and enjoyed the show so much.
Now the rest of you – get your tickets for the last two shows here. 😉
