WindingStream | Newton MA News and Politics BlogNewTV in conjunction with the Newton Nomadic Theater will be presenting a benefit screening of Beth Harrington’s feature length film, “The Winding Stream” on Monday March 30 at NewTV. The film tells the story of “The Carters, the Cashes, and the course of country music” and features studio performances by celebrated roots music practitioners like Johnny and June Carter Cash, George Jones, Rosanne Cash, Sheryl Crow, Kris Kristofferson and others.

The film has been winning awards across the country on the festival circuit but won’t be able to be screened in theaters or broadcast until the music rights are cleared. The proceeds from this special benefit screening will go entirely to “the Winding Stream Project”.

The screening will be followed with Beth telling behind-the-scenes stories about the making of the film and a question/answer session with the audience.  The screening starts at 7PM but from 6:30 – 7PM, local Newton musicians will be performing their own rendition of Carter Family favorites in the NewTV studios (more details soon).

Says Bob Kelly, NewTV’s Executive Director “We’re very excited about this. It fits perfectly with NewTV’s mission. NewTV is all about independent video production and Beth is a nationally known independent film maker with a great film. In addition to the screening, Beth will be meeting with NewTV staff and producers and giving them a mini-course on independent film production”

The screening will take place in NewTV’s beautiful 42 seat screening room with additional seating in the main studio.
