StorySlam | Newton MA News and Politics BlogEveryone of you has got at least one, and probably many, great stories inside of you.  Come to the Nomad Story Slam on Friday Nov 21 and let them out.

It will be a night of community story telling loosely modeled after NPR’s popular Moth Radio Hour.   Come to hear the stories, or if you’re game, throw your name in the hat to tell a story.  They should be related to the night’s theme -“on the road“.  They should be approximately 5 minutes long, and have happened to you.  Beyond that, it’s up to you – funny, moving, poignant, insane, ridiculous whatever you like.

The night is shaping up nicely.  It will be held in the very comfortable venue of Gregorian Rugs in Lower Falls.  Gregorian’s just hosted two nights of the Nomadic Theater’s production “Faith Healer” and both the audience and the actors loved the venue.  Also we’ve already signed up one mystery celebrity story teller and we’re working on another.

In the meantime, to pique your interest, here’s a story I heard at the Mosquito story slam in Wellfleet this summer about a woman traveling in Malawi and another very funny story about airplanes.  The Mosquito was a fabulous story slam series we stumbled on this summer down on Cape Cod.  It was our inspiration for launching a story slam here  in Newton.
