20140916 152044 | Newton MA News and Politics BlogFor the last two years, two Upper Falls businesses, Dunn Gaherins and Better Life Food, have put together the fabulous Feast of the Falls. It’s a remarkable catered dinner for 300 people at one long table in Hemlock Gorge.  The tickets are handed out free to residents of the Upper Falls neighborhood and the neighbors loves it.

Well they’re at it again.  Dunn Gaherins and Better Life Food are going to underwrite the final performance of the Newton Nomadic Theater’s critically acclaimed production of “Faith Healer” and give all the tickets away free to the residents of Upper Falls.

Both Dunn Gaherins and Better Life Food  have been sponsors of the new theater right from the start.  As they watched this first production take off they were tickled to see this new Upper Falls based theater gain traction. “How cool is it that we’ve got a fabulous new theater based right here in the Falls” says Seana Gaherin.

Faith Healer opened for it’s first weekend in Upper Falls at Carriage House Violins and then began traveling around the city with full houses and great reviews.  The run just got extended with added performances in Auburndale and Jamaica Plain and we’ve just been invited for a three night guest run at The Salem Theater on the north shore.

Seana heard all this and said “why don’t you bring it back home and close the show out here in the Falls.  We’ll underwrite the whole thing and we’ll throw a party for the neighborhood.”  I know Chris (Osborn from Better Life Food) was raving about the play when he saw it.  He’ll definitely want in on this too.”   So that’s what we’re going to do.

The last performance of Faith Healer will be on Sunday Nov 16.  Dunn Gaherins is usually closed on Sunday but they’ll open specially that night night for this show.  The kitchen will be closed but the bar will be open for business before and after the show and during intermission.  We’ll be handing out 50 free tickets on a first-come-first-served basis but you need to be an Upper Falls resident to get them.  The tickets will be made available on http://NewtonNomadicTheater.org at exactly 5 PM on November 2.  They are guaranteed to go very fast so if you want them, you better have your browser ready and waiting at 5 PM.

For the rest of you citizens of Newton – no worries.  There are tickets still available ($20) at NewtonNomadicTheater.org for the upcoming performances of Faith Healer at the Auburndale library on Fri Nov 7 and Sat Nov 8 as well as at the Brendan Behan Pub in Jamaica Plain on Sun Nov 9.  If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t miss it.  You won’t be disappointed.
