   It was a grand time, probably the best Hemlock Gorge picnic I have ever attended. Perhaps it was the weather, or Friends President Brian Yates reading his annual “State of the Gorge” address, or just a lot of old friends that showed up. This is a great annual event you should book on your calendar for next year.

   Thanks, Jerry, for this story, for posting the event in the Upper Falls News, and for bringing your wife and daughter up from the Cape to liven up the event.

   Thanks to Karen Osborne for paying for the music and bringing so many of your family members. You truly are the “Empress of the Gorge.”

   Thanks to Nina Koch, Jeff Riklin, Jack Neville, and Marie Jackson for representing the Upper Falls Neighborhood Area Council. We’ll look forward to Marie’s production of “The Faith Healer”. Between her and Jerry, we never have a dull moment in Upper Falls.

   Thanks to Charlie Shapiro and Tom Sheff for working the crowds for their separate campaigns for Governor’s Councillor. Charlie’s on the ballot in the Democratic Primary on September 9.
   Tom is an independent candidate on the November 4 ballot. Perhaps the picture we took of them shaking hands will be a preview of the race in November.

   Thanks to all the other people from elderly to children who campaign to enjoy a beautiful night and beautiful music.
