If you’ve been reading the Newton TAB since, well nearly since the paper was started, you’ve seen Keith E. Jacobson’s photographs. If you’ve attended many events — news events, sporting events, cultural events — in Newton, you’ve also seen Keith Jacobson.
Today, after 34 years documenting life in Newton and surrounding communities, Jacobson announced his retirement.
This man is a Newton institution folks (and a very good friend). You can find many of his photos here and here and, of course, many more on Wicked Local Newton.
Please join me in wishing Keith the very best as he zooms in on the next chapter in his life.
Keith is also a Newton native who continues to live in our fine city. In the unlikely event that you haven’t seen him at an event over the years, you’ve definitely enjoyed his photos in the TAB or on Wicked Local Newton. He’s a treasure!
I can’t believe it’s been that long! He doesn’t seem old enough. Congratulations to Keith for lasting that long in the shrinking news photography business. Hope to still see him around, and I hope he doesn’t do like one of my retired Lowell Sun colleagues and never touch a camera again.
Keith has taken more photos of Newton than anyone. He Also invented the “vertizontal” photo for which I will forever admire him. The TAB would not have been what it was without him. Keep doing great stuff Keith.
Keith, best wishes for the future!
Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Julia … I have already purchased a new camera (because mine is theirs) and I am ready to hit the streets. It’s been a great career … I wanted to go out on top … and now is the time. I am leaving for a variety of reasons but mainly to have control over my time … to be where I want when I want. I’ll probably walking around Newton, and other places, camera in hand so if you see me come on up and say hi. For me photography is more than an occupation it’s a way of life. Keep smiling … you may be in my next picture.
@Keith: Your Newton photos are always welcome here on Village 14!
Here’s wishing Keith well all the way from South Africa. Hope you continue taking albums more legendary shots you are a Newton institution. Good luck and all the best Kamera Keith
