One of Newton’s great winter traditions — the Newton Highland’s Soup Social — is happening tonight (Saturday) at the Hyde Center from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Hyde Community Center, 90 Lincoln Street, Newton Highlands.
Two community groups, the Newton Highlands Neighborhood Area Council and the Hyde Community Center, work together to plan this delectable evening with a variety of fresh soups and extras donated by neighborhood restaurants and grocers.
The Highlands ice skating rink lights will be on too so bring the kids and bring their skates. (You may also want to bring you favorite beverage and bread, since the bread goes fast.)
Whoa, click on the picture and Highlands does a flip
@Hoss: Don’t worry that won’t happen at the actual event.
The merchants have been very generous and not just the ones in the Highlands.
Cabots is donating two tubs of their great ice cream.
This just in from the Village – Lentil from Newton House of Pizza, Coconut Ginger from 51 Lincoln, Tomato Bisque from the Rox Cafe, Thai Coconut from Jamjuli, Butter Squash Bisque from Walnut Grille. Kale & Linguica from Bread & Chocolate and Chicken Pot Pie Soup from O’Hara. Rolls, cookies, coffee and ice cream as well.
… and Kings Handbooks of Newton available for sale.
A great time was had by all. Thanks to everyone that made it all possible, particularly our great and generous merchants and purveyors of fine foods and soups. For years, I’ve been looking for the perfect Chicken Pot Pie. I found it last night with what O’Hara’s sent over. Sorry to all the others who provided great soups, but I gobbled down 3 helpings of O’Hara’s best and had no room for any other soup or delicacy.
My family went to last night’s Highlands Soup Social and had a great time. We saw lots of friends and sampled lots of wonderful soups.
When I woke up this morning, something very peculiar had happened. Remarkably, I felt many years younger and I seem to be brimming with newfound health and vigor. I can’t figure out whether this is due to the restorative powers of those hearty soups or maybe to this:
