UPDATE: Thanks to NewTV for sharing the link so you can watch it live right here on Village 14
Ward 1 candidates Allan Ciccone Sr., Alison Leary and Roger Marrocco Jr. will square off in a live debate Thursday evening (Aug. 29) on NewTV’s government channel and online at www.newtv.org. The three candidates are on the ballot in Ward 1 only on Sept. 17 with the top two vote getters moving onto the November finals.
Who do you support in this contest and why? And after you watch the debate come back here and share your views.
What time is the debate? The link doesn’t work (at least not on my machine), and as has been discussed on another thread, the NewTV website is not particularly user-friendly when looking for a show. I couldn’t find this on today’s schedule.
Hi Max,
The debate is at 7pm. Here’s the direct link to the live stream on the NewTV site: http://www.newtv.org/decision2013-2/
Apologies for the problems with homepage link. Please feel free to try it again here: http://www.newtv.org/
The live stream page is also linked from the “Read More” button found at the top of the homepage in the rotating “Decisions 2013” ad.
Hope this helps!
Anastasia
BTW, according to the site Anastasia pointed to above, the candidates for mayor will “debate” on Thursday, September 12, 2013, 7:00 p.m. I’m ordering my popcorn now.
Popcorn. Scotch. The options are endless.
Five days before the primary is the first mayoral debate? The Tab isn’t gonna have much to write about, will they.
Breaking news: Eric Holder just said its ok to view the debate stoned.
Awesome, Hoss….that should help…!!
Hoss, that’ll really help when they get to the evening gowns.
Actually, only Alison and Allan will take part tonight.

Well that is just too weird. Has anyone told Marrocco that the aldermen meetings are held outside of Ward 1 as well?
…and that Ward Aldermen serve on Committees of the Board and vote on all matters before the Board, not just those affecting Ward 1? I am in Ward 1 and this might have been an opportunity to put some distance between himself and the other candidates. I guess, as GWB said so well: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Wow. That was quite the, um, debate. For those who missed it (and I missed the beginning) Ciccone Sr.’s answer to every question began with a variation of “when I was an alderman….”
Leary consistently had thoughtful, engaged, contemporary, answers, and not always ones the would be popular in her ward either.
The best part was “The Folklorist,” which aired immediately after….but I digress.
Alison Leary stands for Pay-As-You-Throw Garbage, extravagantly expensive override property tax increases and Leaf-Blower Restrictions.
Alison Leary is a left-wing, radical extremist and it is obvious that Alison Leary is terribly out of touch with what Ward 1 residents and taxpayers need from their Ward Alderman.
I’m from a part of Ward 1 that is not Nonantum. I did not get the sense that Former Alderman Ciccone realizes that there is more to the ward than The Lake.
Max: I believe that Mr. Ciccone spoke about Farlow Park and the traffic at Exit 17 in Newton Corner.
I agree with Pasqual. Mr. Ciccone specifically mentioned Newton Corner’s Circle of Death in his opening statement.
