What’s the deal with the “shuttle” signs that seem have become pretty much a permanent fixture along parts of our city? As best I can tell, the MBTA put these up months ago so T bus drivers wouldn’t get lost each time they’re called in because the Green Line is down. Certainly, they can’t possibly conform with Newton’s sign codes.
Hey MBTA: Are you planning on keeping these up forever?

There are also 2 year old Rte 9 construction signs on Hartford St.
More signs to be cranky about:
The signs for house”Gutter Cleaning” that plague every other telephone pole, shop window, light post and any surface that stands still for thirty seconds. They breed faster than Easter Bunnies. It’s litter and almost as ugly as graffiti.
@Terry. What I hate are the construction and lawn services that drop a plastic bag on my driveway filled with white pebbles and a notice promoting their business. I’ve had three of these from three separate companies in the last 3 to 4 days.
@Bob – Ditto here. Still don’t know why they think I’d buy a service from someone who litters my driveway and yard.
Chris, maybe you can add the lawn services’ plastic bags to the list of plastic bags you want the city to ban.
@Patrick – ??
Chris, did I not read/hear someplace that you favor the fee and/or ban on plastic bags used in supermarkets? If not, then I apologize for my comment.
@Patrick – It’d be great to get rid of plastic bags, but we have to consider the impact to small business. We need a reasonable path to get there. I’m happy to talk with you about my other positions, too. Let me know if you’d like to grab a cup of coffee.
If everyone reading this brought all those little white pebbles to the same park, perhaps we could create a nice little landscape feature!
@Chris. Another bag from a landscaper landed on my driveway this morning. My sister thinks that getting frothy about this is just a sign of advancing age. Maybe.
@Bob. Don’t think it’s age. @Greg’s suggestion is taking hold in my head however. Maybe we can make something nice of all this on April 28 with NewtonServes. Put out the notice to bring your bag’o’rocks.
Are those signs upside down?
