Congressman-elect Joe Kennedy III announced today that his staff will take over the office at 29 Crafts St.,which previously served as Congressman Barney Frank’s district office, as well as a location in Attleboro.
In addition, Kennedy said Gregory Mecher will serve as Chief of Staff and his former campaign manager, Nick Clemons will serve as District Director, based in Newton.
Kennedy will be sworn on Jan, 3,in Washington, D.C. The district offices, as well as his Capitol Hill office, will be open in early January.
I’m happy Joe Kennedy was elected, and glad he’s planning to keep the district office on Crafts Street. My enthusiasm for the Congressman-to-be, was tempered during the campaign by his lack of compassion, and failure to support the medical marijuana initiative that passed so overwhelmingly in Massachusetts. I hope young Mr. Kennedy, will take note of his predecessors progressive positions on marijuana reform, and pick up the cause as Barney exits the scene. Marijuana reform has proven itself to be an issue of significant importance to a large number of constituents in his congressional district. I’m looking forward to seeing if Congressman Kennedy will really represent those interests, or if he will maintain a position that is contrary to the vast majority of his constituents.
