I still haven’t decided if I will join the throng of Newton politicians and wannabes who will flock to the Election Department at Newton City Hall on Wednesday to pull papers to run for Mayor, Alderman, School Committee, Area Council or other public office.
But I’m thinking about it.
How about you? Are you running for reelection or planning on becoming a first time candidate this fall? If so, declare your intentions here. Tell us why you’re running. Or, conversely, why you’re not.
Or else tell us who you’d like to see run or who you hope will face a challenger.
(And by the way, if you think you can pull papers and make an announcement some other time forget about it. Once you pull papers, folks are going to know and talk about you so you might as well control the news and make the announcement yourself.)
I’m planning to run for a second term on the Newton Highlands Neighborhood Area Council. The first two years have been a great learning experience and I’ve enjoyed working with every other Council member. We are a good group.
That is great Bob. I am planning to run for a second term on the Upper Falls Area Council. It is a wonderful and eclectic bunch of folks, and we have a playground to build, among other things, so there is a lot of work to be done, and I want to be there to do it.
As most folks know, if I endorse in a contest it’s not usually until the final days. But Bob, you have my vote.
I’m also leaning towards endorsing Ted Hess-Mahan as Village 14’s unofficial alderman.
Marie, sorry I can’t vote for you too.
Thanks, Greg.
Clearly, I must have way too much time on my hands.
Ted: Yeah, if only you gave up that day time thing. Imagine the frivolous items you could docket on behalf of the Village 14 Idiots.
I’m thinking about running for Charter Commission (even if there isn’t one) on the platform that the Board of Aldermen should be reduced by eight aldermen at-large and increased by one virtual ward alderman officially representing Village 14.
Why don’t we have a virtual charter reform?
I also don’t know if there will be a Charter Commission, but I do plan on running if I can.
